Job 99: Surprise Philatelist?

Have you ever fantasized about buying a painting at a garage sale and hitting the jackpot during an appraisal on the Antiques Roadshow? Or have you ever had the common dream about stumbling upon a big bag of cash that you could keep? That may have just happened to me today because I took a risk and shelled out $70.00 for a stamp collection at a second hand store.

I bought the stamp collection at the Salvation Army, which is pictured in part, for $70.00 Canadian. The stamps were all tossed into a large Ziplock bag. They wanted $75.00, I offered $35.00 and we settled on $70.00. It contains at least a thousand stamps, some in mint condition.

The collection contains both American and Canadian stamps from as early as the turn of the 20th century.

EACH.

TL;DR I may have bought over $5000 in stamps for $70.00.

MillionDollarTwitpage: Job 100

Eye-catching

I met a llama man named Andrew Henderson when I noticed a Twitter RT with the awesome animated avatar above and began to follow him. Andrew's been trading objects for years, having been inspired by my pal Kyle Macdonald to embark on global up-trades of interesting objects.

Recently, he was inspired by the MillionDollarHomepage to launch a similar advertising project with animated logos. He contacted me to brainstorm about his idea and I came up with the idea of creating a Twitter social media advertising page, now known as the MillionDollarTwitpage.

Much like the original MillionDollarHomepage, each pixel costs $1.00 and the minimum area one can purchase is $100, which is fitting because I used to charge $100 minimum per client for this project; it's a poetic return to my base rate. Our idea is that the buzz generated by attaching this project to my final job and the reworking of a clever retro web advertising idea will get our pixel purchasers much needed social media marketing. So far, we already have interest from a celebrity entrepreneur. 

Now it's my job to write a clever press release for blogs and traditional media, roll out the promotion on the social web and sell my way to Job 100.  Would it ever happen any other way?

Buzzfeed Boost!

IN OTHER JOBS:

Much to my semi-surprise, I submitted an LOLpervs.com video on Buzzfeed yesterday and it wound up getting featured on the Buzzfeed Culture homepage. My video is at well over 7 000 views in just a day, even though YouTube's counter is slow to catch up. For those who don't know, I consider the monetization of LOLpervs.com to be Job 69 of this project.

Behind the scenes info: I swallowed Visine drops accidentally during filming, 

which are actually quite toxic and I got a huge tummy ache. 

In short, I almost won a Darwin Award for this video!

I have to say, Buzzfeed is an invaluable tool in pushing and marketing original content. I hope this boost is one of many breakthroughs in revenue generating traffic for LOLpervs. I'm also up YouTube subscribers, which is super awesome. I'm aiming for your success, Ray William Johnson!

In other videos, I also shot a humorous parody audio commentary for a free YouTube feature film with my boyfriend last night. It's compressing right now and it will be the longest video that I've ever uploaded to YouTube. You will either find our tipsy antics hilarious or highly annoying. Such is YouTube!

Job 90: Extreme Surfing

Laval Tourism hired me to experience and document a day of extreme sports in Laval.  Here's the first activity on the list, indoor surfing at Maeva Surf Laval, with my son Max:

I was afraid at first, but wound up having a great time. I'd actually do it again and try the advanced surfing next time.

Max loved it and was sad when it was over!
