The Office of English Imperialism Versus the Office de la Langue Française

Because the Office Québécois de la Langue Française attacked and fined Buonanotte for its use of "pasta" in its menu, I decided to make some calls as the "Office of English Imperialism" to French restaurants operating in Toronto:

Your thoughts on the language police, Bill 101, Bill 14 and the policies of the OQLF?

Opt-in Only: Three Cents a Share?!

I was pleased to find out today that Yellow Media's stock has plunged to $0.03 and that usage of phone books is now so poor that Calgarians need to be reminded that they can still request residential phone directories. Paper phone books have clearly outlived their usefulness, per the interview I gave to OpenFile Montreal in April, 2012.

I was not very pleased, however, to find out that a whole stack of mini Yellow Page directories had been delivered to my apartment building again:

They have been here since last week and nobody wants them.

Please sign my petition to encourage Environment Canada to create opt-in only legislation for paper phone directories.

Share, sign and tweet:

I'll be on CBC Radio Montreal this afternoon at 3:40 discussing my petition and the demise of the Yellow Pages.

Lobbying for Age-restricted Ads on YouTube

Hello Jobbers!

I just launched a new sexy YouTube crusade called #SAVETHEBOOBS.

I'm collecting signatures on Change.org to persuade YouTube to create an ad system for age-restricted content.

www.change.org/en-CA/petitions/youtube-should-offer-partners-ads-for-mature-content-not-porn

Here's a DailyDot article from yesterday about the cause:

http://www.dailydot.com/business/youtube-boobs-reply-girls-advertising/

Currently, if a video gets flagged on YouTube and is determined to contain mature and/or suggestive content (not porn; think: adult humour), the video loses its ads, its search ranking and requires users 18 years of age or older to sign in to view it. This hurts video producers because they lose out on their ability to generate revenue, despite demand for their content or how much time and money was invested into its creation.

Also, I found that that age-restriction happens disproportionately to female creators and that some creators get away with profiting from sexy content that others would be demonetized for. For example, a male comedian can interview Jordan Carver, have her make a coffee by pulling ingredients from her large bust and still run ads: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-r274hyCghY, whereas Jenna Marbles comically discusses what girls think about during sex and suffers an age-restriction: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xxkE30elDk.

Therefore, I want YouTube to create a system where advertisers can choose to opt-in to run ads against videos that have been age-restricted. It would end the double standard of some creators being able to run ads against suggestive content with impunity and it would also allow women to dress sexy and discuss or joke about sex without fearing that their ads may be taken away by flagging.

Please sign my petition and #SAVETHEBOOBS on YouTube:

Relaunch of MillionDollarTwitpage.com!

As I don't like creating projects and not finishing them, TradingNothing and I are relaunching our
MillionDollarTwitpage, with the introductory offer of buying Twitter advertising AND a YouTube vlog mention for as little as $1, which is one of the 10 by 10 pixel squares.

If you don't have a Twitter account, we will gladly link to your Facebook page or website if you provide a square image. To purchase pixels, go to http://www.milliondollartwitpage.com/buy_pixels.html and fill out the purchase form.

Other than that, I've been focusing almost all of my energy in developing my partnership with YouTube on both my OneHundredJobs and LOLpervs channels. I'm almost up to a million views on LOLpervs!

If you're looking for a job, though, you can always find jobs in Montreal with Jobboom!

Have a great weekend,

Aimee
